Prestigious Award Ranks CINJ Hamilton Medical Practice Among Nation's Top Five Percent

12/26/2007

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - The medical practice at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Hamilton (CINJ Hamilton), RWJ Medical Oncology at Hamilton, is the only medical practice in the nation to receive the prestigious Press Ganey Summit Award, recognizing high achievement in patient satisfaction.

"The Summit Award is a tremendous achievement," says CINJ Hamilton Executive Director Lisa Breza, RN, BSN. "It is an affirmation that we are meeting and exceeding standards common to the vision we share with RWJ Hamilton, which is to retain a culture of exceptional service and a commitment to quality patient care."

Press Ganey is a nationally recognized company that partners with health care facilities to measure the level of customer satisfaction and improve their quality of health care delivery. The firm partners with more than 40 percent of U.S. hospitals, offering the industry's largest customer feedback database, allowing institutions to benchmark their results against peer organizations. Press Ganey created the award to recognize organizations that have demonstrated a superior level of commitment to patient satisfaction.

The medical practice at CINJ Hamilton measures customer satisfaction through patient surveys, using the feedback received from these surveys to improve and maintain a high level of service excellence.

This is the second year the medical practice has received this honor. In presenting the Summit Award, Press Ganey cited that the superior performance ratings of CINJ Hamilton reflect a high level of service from physicians and support staff and its integration of support services. At CINJ Hamilton, patients have immediate access to highly trained oncology specialists, as well as the most current and promising protocols, treatments, experimental therapies, and clinical trials.

Patients experience the benefits of outpatient infusion therapies, a spacious, comfortable treatment room, the Bruce W. Bux Grounds For Healing™-a private, contemplative garden-in addition to integrative therapies such as pet therapy and Bedside Harp™, a form of music therapy.

Ellen Guarnieri, RWJ Hamilton's president and chief executive officer, applauds CINJ Hamilton's award-winning status, "There can be no doubt that CINJ Hamilton is an exceptional center for healing and hope. The Summit Award is well-earned recognition for the physicians, nurses and support staff who work to treat the whole person each and every day-caring for their body, mind and spirit."
