Community Celebration Marks Opening of RWJ Hamilton Lakefront Tower August 25
Features Daisy Jug Band, Picnic Lunch and Family Activities

8/22/2007

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton will celebrate the opening of its new four-story Lakefront Tower patient building with local residents, employees and area dignitaries on Saturday, August 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the hospital campus.

The community is invited to enjoy a free "country picnic," offering a picnic lunch and entertainment by the Daisy Jug Band in addition to health screenings and information. Children's activities include crafts, a petting zoo and storytelling. WIMG Radio will broadcast live from the event.

In addition, RWJ Hamilton will recognize the many organizations and individuals who contributed to the planning and building of the patient-focused Lakefront Tower. The expansion was made possible through the generous support of local major donors, including but not limited to: Yardville National Bank; the RWJ Hamilton Auxiliary; Roma Bank; Rue Insurance; Mr. & Mrs. Allen Haldeman; our RWJ Hamilton employees; PSE&G Foundation; and the Sharbell Development Corporation.

With the addition of 64 private patient rooms the Lakefront Tower sets a benchmark for patient facilities among area hospitals. Designed by architecture firm Ballinger, and built by L.F. Driscoll Co., the building's materials were selected for their ability to support a quiet environment for healing. The infrastructure has been infused with elements of nature and many rooms offer views of either the lake at adjacent Hamilton Veterans Park or the contemplative Grounds for HealingTM, the hospital's fourth on-campus healing garden devoted to peaceful reflection, designed in partnership with Hamilton's Grounds For Sculpture, the internationally acclaimed organization devoted to promoting appreciation for art and sculpture.
