RWJ Hamilton Foundation Hosts 18th Annual Golf Classic
June 19th event to benefit RWJ Hamilton Heart Failure Program

6/2/2008

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - The 18th Annual Golf Classic, in support of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) Foundation, will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the beautiful Pine Barrens Golf Club in Jackson, New Jersey. The Golf Classic offers golfers an opportunity to play a challenging course at one of New Jersey's top-rated golf clubs while helping support the Foundation’s mission to better serve the growing healthcare needs of the community.

Playing for the Heart of the Matter
All proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will benefit the heart failure program at RWJ Hamilton. Heart failure occurs when the heart loses its ability to pump enough blood through the body. This chronic condition affects over 5 million Americans and is the leading cause of preventable hospitalizations and over 300,000 deaths per year. The goal of the RWJ Hamilton heart failure program is to promote a healthy lifestyle and to deal with cardiac issues by focusing on prevention. To manage and/or prevent progression of the disease, it is important to follow the disease management plan set up by your primary care physician. Controlling your blood pressure, taking your medications as ordered, following a special diet with limited fluid intake, managing your weight, exercising and quitting smoking are key elements of heart health.

Golf Classic Includes Attractive Benefits
Registration for the day’s event includes breakfast, green fees and cart, barbecue buffet lunch, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, great gifts and door prizes. Awards will be presented to the first, second and third-place foursomes. Morning and afternoon shotgun starts are available; registration deadline is Monday, June 9.

The Foundation is pleased to have the support of Sean's Landscaping and Lawn Care Service as Event Sponsor for this year’s outing. The support of all Golf Classic sponsors and participants is greatly valued and appreciated. Golf Classic sponsorship offers an excellent means of putting your heart into the game while promoting your company or organization, enjoying prime tax advantages and offering charitable support of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation. A number of "win-win," benefit-loaded sponsorship options are available for selection.

Pine Barrens a Beautiful, Challenging Course
Carved from the sandy soil of the New Jersey pine barrens from which it derives its name, the golf club naturally blends in with its surroundings. Stretching to 7,112 yards from the back tees, Pine Barrens has been used as a qualifying site for the U.S. Open and is truly a test for the good player. Each hole, with its unique design and personality, challenges the player with a wide variety of shots. For directions and information about the club, visit pinebarrensgolf.com. If Pine Barrens’ officials cancel the outing due to inclement weather, they will offer gift certificates to each registered golfer.
