4/1/2008

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY – The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) Auxiliary recently presented a $45,000 donation to the hospital during the organization's annual meeting. The funds raised are dedicated to the hospital's Lakefront Tower, which opened to patients in 2007. The Auxiliary has pledged $175,000 towards this building project and this marks the second year that they have contributed towards their goal. Accepting the check on the hospital's behalf were RWJ Hamilton President and CEO Ellen Guarnieri and Greg Blair, Chairman of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation.

The Lakefront Tower was built to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of greater Mercer County. The four-story building, which opened in April 2007, includes 64 private patient rooms that have been designed to maximize exposure to sunlight, incorporate elements of nature and promote healing.

The mission of the Auxiliary of RWJ Hamilton is to continually strive to improve the quality of healthcare provided to the hospital's patients and the community through advocacy, fundraising and service. They do so while remaining aware of the changing needs of the customers and the healthcare system. The Auxiliary raises funds through several means including book fairs, jewelry sales, plant sales, flea markets and events. In addition, once a month they meet for lunch and sew handmade bears for the patients in the Emergency Department. If interested in joining the Auxiliary, please contact the Foundation at 609.584.6581.
