RWJ Hamilton Physicians Guide Hospital's Approach to Community Wellness
March 30 is Doctors' Day

3/30/2008

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY – Celebrating Doctors' Day in honor of physicians' dedication to the community they serve is a time-honored tradition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) and at hospitals across the country. On this 75th anniversary of Doctors' Day, RWJ Hamilton salutes its physicians for helping to improve the lives of their patients and community.

"The commitment to patients demonstrated by our physicians goes well beyond their time spent in the office or the hospital,"says Ellen Guarnieri, President and CEO of RWJ Hamilton. "So many of our physicians donate their time to local charities, speak to community organizations and volunteer their medical services. They've broken through the walls of traditional medical settings to help the people who need them."

RWJ Hamilton's community education program includes many opportunities to explore health concerns and curiosities. The program extends into the communities served by RWJ Hamilton through health screenings in locations across Mercer, Burlington, Monmouth and Ocean counties. “This would simply not be possible without the generous contributions made by our medical staff,” added Guarnieri.

The RWJ Hamilton Center for Health & Wellness, the area's only medically-based fitness facility, is guided by a medical advisory panel who oversee the educational programs at the Center and often teach classes. The many programs offered through the hospital's community education department are open to the public, not just members of the Center's fitness facility. Call 609.584.5900 or go to rwjhamilton.org/education.

The hospital's medical staff is led by Chief of Staff Mahmoud Ghusson, MD, Vice Chief of Staff: Mark Risi, DO and Secretary/Treasurer Ronald Ryder, DO.

Often times, patients and families express an interest in giving gifts of appreciation to the nurse or doctor who cared for them during their stay. RWJ Hamilton encourages that gestures of thanks benefit the hospital's foundation which supports patient care and special projects. Call the RWJ Hamilton Foundation at 609.584.6581.
