RWJ Hamilton Observes American Heart Month
Hospital Presents Several Heart-Focused Health Programs, Classes and Events

2/1/2007
HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY – Cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are the number one killer of men and women in the U.S. according to the American Heart Association (AHA). During February, which has been designated as American Heart Month, the AHA is also leading its Go Red for Women campaign designed to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and stroke in women.

Cardiologists and the Community Education department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton are teaming up to present a series of classes and events on the prevention and management cardiovascular diseases in observance of Go Red for Women and American Heart Month. RWJ Hamilton's physicians and educators will be providing education on cardiovascular disease to help combat statistics asserting that many people are unaware they have heart disease until it is too late.

Free and low cost February classes and events presented by RWJ Hamilton's Community Education department include:

  • A free heart fair devoted to the prevention and treatment of heart disease with free screenings; this February 10 event includes a physician lecture and heart healthy cooking demonstration.
  • A distinguished panel of experts will convene on February 20 to present the latest information on heart health research, disease prevention and treatment.
  • A cooking demonstration on heart healthy meals created by a former chef to New Jersey Governors Christine Todd Whitman and Jim Florio.

Attendees must register for all RWJ Hamilton Community Education events in advance by calling HealthConnection, (609) 584-5900.
