New Teen Support Group to Meet Monthly at Cancer Institute of New Jersey Hamilton
First Group Workshop For Teens Whose Parents Have Cancer Will Meet April 17

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY– The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Hamilton (CINJ-H) announces a new workshop for teens ages 13-18 whose parents have cancer. The free workshop will meet the third Thursday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at CINJ-H, 2575 Klockner Road, Hamilton, located on the campus of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton). This Thursday, April 17, marks the first meeting of Teen Support. There is no need to register—teens can simply show up shortly before 5 o’clock in the Cancer Institute's main lobby.

Marissa Marrucca, MSW, LSW, social work coordinator at CINJ-H, created the support group to address a growing need. "As cancer affects the lives of younger people, many of whom have children and teenagers at home, it can disrupt the family dynamic," says Ms. Marrucca. "Through activities, games and exercise I hope to help teens cope with the challenges cancer can bring to their home and life." Light refreshments will be served.
